Accessing Microsoft 365 Portal

Introduction

If you have any trouble printing this guide, please use the attached PDF file.

  • For all information and guides below, the type of Microsoft account that you have through Office 365 with Sundog is a “work or school account” when prompted to choose by Microsoft. Do not choose “Microsoft account”.
  • If prompted to choose an account type during email setup, you may also have to specify that you are using an Office 365 or Exchange account, not Outlook or outlook.com.
  • To access your account and most resources below, you will need to go to either:
  • Your username will be your full email address.

If you run into trouble and need further assistance, Sundog is available to help at support@sundogit.com, or 815-991-2400.

  • Once prompted, save the download file, then choose to run the file once downloaded.
  • Once installed, you will likely be prompted to sign in to your Office 365 account.
    • If you do not do this within 30 days, Office software may stop working until you sign in.
    • For Outlook, you may also be prompted to set up an account once you open Outlook.
    • In both cases, you should only need to know your username and password.
      • Your username is your email address.
      • Your password is the same one that you use to access that address.
  • These instructions may change as Microsoft makes updates. If something is not quite right, an updated installation guide is available here.

Office Web Applications

  • Sign in to your account at https://login.microsoftonline.com
  • You will be presented with a menu similar to the one below, showing you all of the options available for you to access online. Simply click on one to begin working with that application.

Office Mobile Apps and Email Access

  • Office 365 email setup varies a lot from phone to phone. Some default email apps may not play well with your Office 365 account.
  • Sundog recommends that you download and install the free Outlook app from Microsoft so that you should only need to know 3 things:
    • Your username – same as your full email address
    • Your password – the one that allows access to the above address
    • Your account type – Office 365 (Work or School Account)
  • Download links:
  • For any form of mail setup on your mobile device (Outlook app or otherwise):
  • Most Office 365 accounts with email access should be able to access email from any mobile device.
    • Many accounts will also be able to access mobile apps for things like Word documents and Excel Spreadsheets, though additional licensing may be needed.
