A Change Over Time

One of the coolest parts about staying in DeKalb is the amazing history. Since DeKalb was incorporated in 1856, there have been some great additions to the town, including Northern Illinois University, The Egyptian Theatre, and of course, Sundog IT.

Looking at our exact location, there have been two businesses prior to us, that have shared calling our building “home.” Looking back, Malone’s Department Store is the oldest record we have, but the dates of its existence are still questionable. After Malone’s, Moxie’s was around for nearly 10 years and closed in 2015, leavening the building abandoned for around 2 years, when Sundog came in.

Being able to keep original architecture, without changing too much is extremely special to us, and the City of DeKalb as well. When it comes to the purchasing of buildings, we’d like to think we’re the best.

If you, or anyone you know has stories on 230 E. Lincoln Highway, please let us know. We would love to know more about the new space we will be occupying!

Check back with us next week for more updates!
